We are a gospel-centred, Spirit-led people on mission with Jesus in the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne. As the church we exist to Know Jesus and Make Jesus Known, not just in our city but all across the North East, including: Durham, Northumberland and the Coast where people who call Cornerstone home live in their local communities; living out and displaying grace and mercy.
about us
Kingdom Cultures
There are five cultures we want to see cultivated at Cornerstone:
-
Jesus is our teacher, His words are the words of eternal life and faith come from hearing His word. We not only seek to connect people to Christ, but also want them to deepen their knowledge of, and trust in, Christ. We want to equip people for engagement in the world.
-
We want to be led by Jesus, lead like Jesus and lead others to Jesus. We want to train men and women for leadership in the home, workplace, university and church. At Cornerstone we want to model to the wider city of Newcastle a different and counter-cultural city. We want to model a gospel-centred life in the areas of marriage, sexuality, finances, community and truth.
-
We believe that every facet of the Christian life is reliant upon the infilling and guidance of God the Holy Spirit. We also believe he speaks to us through God’s word and through the demonstration of the power of God through gifts given to believers, for God’s glory and the edification of the church. We intend for our individual lives and our church gatherings to reflect a willingness to follow His leading and walk with confidence in His empowering. This would include a less scripted approach to our gatherings, an openness to the filling of the Spirit and to the use of His gifts of power and supernatural revelation.
-
The generosity of God is displayed perfectly in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. His generosity is costly, indiscriminate, selfless and abundant. At Cornerstone we seek to mirror this generosity.
-
God is by nature in community (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). At Cornerstone we seek to not only grow in size and influence, but also in closeness and connection. We want to see people welcomed and join gospel communities that exist to serve their neighbourhoods.
Our Family
Cornerstone Church is part of the Advance Movement, a family of 175+ churches across the globe's five continents. We partner together to plant and strengthen churches. Advance belongs to the broader Newfrontiers family of churches around the world.
With gospel ambition, we trust that God would use us to plant and strengthen many more churches in the years ahead. We are committed to honouring God’s Word and moving at the pace of family, always dependent on the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence.
Know Jesus
Gospel Communities help each other know Jesus more by praying, reading the Bible and discussing life together – as we support each other in the ordinary and extraordinary aspects of our lives. We make Jesus known by finding ways to serve our local community, places of education or work and the wider city by sharing the gospel and helping in practical ways.

Make jesus known
The commission from Jesus to His disciples was to make disciples. There are multiple ways that this works itself out in the life of Cornerstone both personally and in our gathered contexts. We have partnered with a few organisations to help us be the hands and feet of Jesus to those that don’t yet know Him.
-
Pop Up Pantry is a full mobile food shop, that provides the local community with access to a broad range of high-quality food and household goods at a low cost. Pop-Up Pantry's goal is far more than reducing a members household budget, we want to: create places of community, support, advocacy when needed, advice and more.
-
Tea and Tots is a fun and safe space for parents and carers with babies, toddlers, and young children. We meet on Mondays from 9:30-11am at Cornerstone Church. Everyone is welcome!
-
North East Youth for Christ seek to see young people’s lives changed by Jesus in schools, churches and local communities using sport, music, and the arts. They demonstrate the love of God, declare who Jesus is, encourage a decision to follow Him and disciple young people to live their lives to the full. Find out more here.
-
George and Sha have moved to Chiang Rai, Thailand to join One Light Church. One Light Church was planted in 2016 out with a team from Southlands Church in California. One Light is a community on mission, proclaiming and understanding the message of reconciliation to God through Jesus whilst serving the local community with very practical needs.

We are a vibrant, relevant, and contemporary base church located in Alicante, Spain. Our greatest purpose is to know Jesus and make Him known; this is the greatest purpose of our lives. We have the vision of becoming a hub committed to: calling, equipping, and sending people to connect meaningfully with God, plant new churches, and developing relationships with the local and translocal church.
